God's Final Warning
{Mini Bible Study} GOD’s Final Warning
Question: What is the warning, from GOD to all Christians, in Revelation 18:4 all about?
Answer: In the book of Revelation there is a final warning to the last generation of Christians to be on the earth before the return of Jesus Christ. The verse reads:
Rev 18:4 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”
This final warning has to do with one of the most important events mankind will have to face before the return of Jesus, the seven last plagues that GOD will send upon the world before the second coming of Jesus. Due to the extreme importance of this verse let’s break it down part by part to make sure we completely understand what it is telling us.
The first part reads, “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,”
A voice from heaven would certainly be GOD.
The second part reads, “Come out of her,”
In the bible a church is always referred to as a female, often referred to as the wife or
bride of Jesus as in “…for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made
herself ready.” (Rev 19:7). We basically have two symbols of females representing the
church in the bible. In our first example we see a woman who “keep(s) the
Commandments of GOD” as Rev 12:17 shows here.
“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of
her seed WHICH KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, and have the testimony of
Jesus Christ.” (Rev 12:17)
So we see one example here of the church portrayed as a woman who has taught her
children to “keep the commandments of GOD”, this symbol is the part of the Christian
church still in obedience to GOD in the last days.
The other female example is of the disobedient part of Christianity.
“So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a WOMAN sit upon a
scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and
precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and
filthiness of her fornication:” (Rev 17: 3-4)
Notice here that this woman is blasphemous toward GOD. The biblical definition of
blasphemy is to make yourself out to be GOD as shown in John 10:33, “The Jews
answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and
because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” Making yourself out to be GOD
breaks the first commandment. She is also committing “fornications” which is adultery,
the breaking of another commandment. So this woman is actually “breaking” the
commandments of GOD. This woman is a symbol of the disobedient part of the Christian
church since a woman is still a symbol of the Christian church regardless of her
These two female symbols are direct opposites of one another, but opposite sides of
the same institutions of Christianity, the different forms of the church in the last days.
When GOD tells us to “Come out of her” he obviously wouldn’t tell us to come out of
the obedient church which is represented by a woman who teaches her children to “keep
the commandments of GOD”, therefore “Come out of her” means to come out of the
“disobedient” form of the last days Christian church, the woman who is breaking the
commandments of GOD.
The third part reads, “my people”
The term “my people” in this verse obviously refers to GOD’s people which would be the Christians of the world. Some would argue that “my people” refers to all the people in the world, but that would not fit with the context of the verse which clearly shows GOD speaking about two different groups, the obedient and the disobedient, that we will see more clearly, as we continue to study this verse.
The fourth part reads, “that ye be not partakers of her sins”
The biblical definition of sin is “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.” (1Jn 3:4). Since sin is considered by GOD the act of directly breaking HIS commandments HE is warning us here not to “partake of her sins” or in other words not to break any of HIS Ten Commandments.
The final part reads, “and that ye receive not of her plagues”
This final part of the verse directly tells the world that anyone who is part of the disobedient church will receive of the seven last plagues that GOD will send upon the world as punishment for breaking HIS commandments and therefore continuing to propagate sin in the world, regardless of whether they claim to be Christian or not.  A brief rundown of the plagues are grievous sores, everything in the sea dies, water turns to blood, sun begins to cook the earth, darkness and pain, war over the earth, earthquakes and killer hail storms. GOD is eternally fair and he can not fairly punish non-Christians who are in disobedience to HIS commandments and let Christians who are also in disobedience escape the punishment, this would not be fair to mankind as a whole.  A question that might arise from this is “since I have repented of my sins and confessed Jesus as my savior aren’t I safe from these last plagues”. This could be answered in two ways. In the first way it could be said that anyone who continued to purposefully break GOD’s commandments and commit sin could not have sincerely repented of their sin in the first place. A second explanation is that these plagues are meant for the disobedient on earth and are not part of GOD’s final judgment day. These last seven plagues are similar to the ten plagues that GOD visited on the Egyptians just before the Jewish Exodus.
Now that we have broken down Rev 18:4 let’s paraphrase it here to be sure we completely understand what is it saying.
“And I heard GOD from heaven saying, come out of the disobedient form of my church, my Christians, so that you do not break my commandments as she does, and so you also do not have to take part in her punishment.”
It is a very clear and direct warning from GOD almighty himself and one any Christian alive today should be giving serious thought too.
The important question now is, are we in complete obedience to GOD’s Ten Commandments?  Since obedience to GOD’s Law is our complete protection from HIS wrath in the last generation shouldn’t we be SURE for our sakes and the well-being of our children that we are doing exactly what GOD has asked us to do? Has how we have been taught to understand GOD’s Ten Commandments been changed over history in any way? Let’s look at a few historical references.
“Sunday is our mark of authority… The (Roman Catholic) Church is above the Bible,
and this TRANSFERENCE OF THE SABBATH observance is proof of that fact.”  Catholic
Record September 1, 1923.
"There is no mention of the cessation of the Sabbath and the institution of Sunday in the gospels or in Paul's writings, or in all the Bible; therefore, this has taken place by the apostolic Church instituting it without scripture." - Enchiridion, p.78, 79.
The Bible says 'Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day'. The Catholic church
says 'No! By my divine power, I abolish the Sabbath day, and command you to keep holy
the first day of the week, and lo, the entire civilized world bows down in reverent
obedience to the command of the Holy Catholic Church. - Enright, Sentinel, June 1893
“Sunday is a Catholic institution, and its claims to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles… From the beginning to the end of Scripture there is not a single passage which warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first.” – Catholic Press (Sydney) August 25, 1900.
These are just a minute sampling of all the historical evidence that shows GOD’s fourth commandment has been changed and in some cases completely forgotten. We now gather for worship on Sunday instead of GOD's commandment Sabbath (Saturday) due to a tradition of man, not through obedience to GOD. Now let's look at what Jesus had to say about replacing GOD's commandments with men's commandments and traditions.
“But he answered and said to them, why do you also transgress the commandment of GOD by your TRADITION? … And you voided the commandment of GOD by your TRADITION … But in vain they worship me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:3, 6, 9)
Notice in that verse that Jesus said "BUT IN VAIN THEY WORSHIP ME" because they were observing a commandment of men INSTEAD of the commandments of GOD
This next verse says basically the same thing but it provides a test for you to really see if you are in GOD's love and obedience.
“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me IN VAIN; their teachings are but rules taught by men…” And HE said to them. “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of GOD in order to observe your own TRADITIONS.” - MARK 7:7, 9
Now we can compare ourselves to the Christians in that verse by asking ourselves two simple questions.
First, do we honor Jesus with our lips? Yes, we do. Most Christians sit in church every Sunday and proclaim love and loyalty to GOD.
Second, have we set aside the commandments of GOD to observe man-made traditions? Yes, we have. 99% of the world now obeys Sunday worship in place of GOD's commanded Sabbath, or the fourth commandment.
So if we honor Jesus with our lips but have also replaced GOD’s commandments with man-made traditions what does Jesus say is the result of that? He says "They worship me IN VAIN" and also "But in vain they worship me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men".
Jesus says that our worship is IN VAIN, which means "worthless". If obeying GOD’s commandments completely is so important and the Sabbath commandment, the fourth commandment, is just as important as the other nine, but the most misunderstood we should take a quick look and see what we are supposed to do on the Sabbath? In Lev 23:3 we read:
Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. (Lev 23:3)
I want you to pay attention to where it says "an holy convocation". The original Hebrew word for "convocation" is "miqra", it is pronounced "MIK- RAW", and its literal meaning is "public assembly". So the bible directly orders Christians to have "a holy public assembly" on the Sabbath Day to show love, loyalty and obedience to GOD. In other words, gather for worship.
All Ten of GOD’s Commandments are equally important, but the fourth
Commandment is the only one purposefully ignored by almost all of modern
Christianity. Unfortunately Jesus tells us that “For whosoever shall keep the whole law,
and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”  (James 2:10), which puts 99% of all
modern Christians in complete disobedience to GOD’s commandments and therefore
susceptible to the seven last plagues GOD will send upon the world.
It is not GOD who will subject Christians and their children to these seven last
plagues it will be the disobedience of the Christians themselves as GOD tells us in Hosea
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I
will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast FORGOTTEN
THE LAW OF THY GOD, I will also forget thy children.” (Hosea 4:6)
For the sake of ourselves and our children whenever we study the bible we must forsake our own pride, pre-teaching, predispositions or biases and learn to fully accept the literal word of GOD as only he can explain it to us through prayer and study. We can never accept the “interpretations” of parents, preachers or the Pope himself if it directly contradicts the literal word of GOD! Faulty information has been introduced into the church through generation after generation of man and Satan’s interference in GOD’s word. They have often relied on their own interpretations instead of letting the word of GOD speak for itself and unfortunately these corrupted interpretations and information have been unknowingly passed on from pastor to pastor and parent to child. Is it worth the risk of sending our children through those seven last plagues just so we can continue to adhere to our traditions?
There is no doubt what GOD wants us to do, the bible is very clear on the subject. Let’s heed GOD’s final warning to “come out of her” before it’s too late!
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecc 12:13)
